This year I finally compiled podfic stats! It took me a week because I had to update my spreadsheet first, but here we are, finally!

So, I'm working on my fanfic recap/stats post (shh, I know it's only November, I won't even post it until January, but I was curious, shut up.) and because I wrote down the amounts of kudos/hits/etc. I received in previous years, I noticed that the numbers have changed.

Funny, I think. How could I have gained any kudos in the year 2012 when it's 2017?

And then I realise: AO3 doesn't show you how many kudos, etc. you gained in a year when you're on the statistics page. It only shows you how many kudos works posted in that year have overall.

Which means that if you, like me, want to know a) how many kudos (or any other statistical value) you gained in the recent year, you will have to keep your own spreadsheet with the number from previous years, and b) you'll also have to make all the calculations yourself because AO3 is not giving you info on "amount gained" only on "amount overall".

Basically, you have to have written down how many kudos you had on works of each of the years you posted something, and then compare it to the current amount. Calculate the difference between those numbers, and then add up all the differences to figure out how many kudos you gained for all the works on your dashboard in a year.

I'm glad I started recording my stats last year, because now I can actually get the information I want, even though I have to do way more maths in order to get there than I had hoped.
