Maybe no-one besides my handful of DW mutuals will fill this out but let's try having a friending meme like in the good old days.

step on meDimitrescu to be extremely tall), making icons, visiting All The Museums when I travel, still only making vids in my head I should do something about that. I also have my eye on fanbinding.Fandoms: Currently airing: Interview With The Vampire, ST DISCO, Ted Lasso (gentle show of my heart, but also so funny), Stranger Things, Our Flag Means Death (
Very sad the second half of Dune is so far away, it burrowed into my brain. Still keeping up with the MCU. New Old Guard when??
What type of posts can we expect in your journal? Icons, linkspams, tarot, reactions to media, life updates, the occasional recs, left-leaning politics, shiny stuff I've bought.
Anything else you'd like us to know?
You can look at my profile for more, or check the userpics for my fannish interests (I always snoop around in people's icons for a first impression hehe). I don't automatically grant access, but make locked posts extremely rarely.

Looked at your Icons and your journal and you seem so nice and lovely. Wanna try out to be friends? :)

Date: 2022-11-27 05:49 pm (UTC)I've never played anything in VR, but I support your aspirations of seeing just how tall Lady Dimitrescu is close up. I watched someone play RE8 and it's such a cool game, the aesthetic of all the different characters are great. Also, new Old Guard when indeed!
Highly support getting into fanbinding. :3c
(I feel suddenly self-conscious of my meagre selection of icons. You have so many! :D)

Date: 2022-11-28 12:07 pm (UTC)I've tried to avoid as much of the game as possible, but Lady D was unavoidable. Fandom fell hard for her, and I was awash in fanart 🥰

Ooh do you fanbind as well?

Date: 2022-11-28 06:52 pm (UTC)I do like a deck that deviates from the formula! And I don't have great intuition, but I definitely prefer giving it a go before resorting to the guidebook. I love a deck with rich art.
Lady D is great, and the rest of the game is great as well IMO. I hope you get to enjoy it!
That Old Guard link isn't working for me. :( I didn't get fully into the fandom side of it, but I'm sure there's a lot of good stuff in there! It's one of my favourite comfort movies.
Ooh do you fanbind as well?
Yes! I only just made the connection this morning that you invited me to the fanbinding community some time ago - I don't now remember why I didn't join then. (^_^') I haven't made many books (4, if I remember right?), I haven't had much crafting energy for most of this year. But I have a lot of books I want to make, and a fair amount typeset too.
Oh, that's just how it starts mwhahahahahaaaa
sgdhdkdjkl, Perhaps! I've kept my eye out for icons and icon communities, and I have far more saved than I have icon slots. Perhaps one day...

Fingers crossed your energy returns next year. I'd love to see what you get up to!

Oh, so it's already begun *g* I have a rec post of makers here, but I find most cross post to either

Thank you! I realised belatedly that I do have a small Tumblr tag with photos of the four books I've made so far, which maybe I should crosspost to DW at some point.
Have you bound/do you plan to bind anything in particular?
And nice, thank you for the links to icons! I will have to go through and build a hoard in my folders before deciding which get to fit in the prize 15 spots available to me. Or I could get a paid account if I get really desperate! :D

Date: 2022-11-29 10:20 am (UTC)Haven’t bound anything yet. More in the process of gathering information and tutorials, plus I have some old book cloth/end papers my mom got me at the museum archive (they had a lot of duplicates, and it was her job to tidy; I ain’t stealing from a museum 😅) Think all I’m missing is a bone folder and a suitable needle, though may spring for bigger paper to divide so I can fold with the grain. (Partially started
As for things I’d like to bind, probably some fanfiction, and making the Steerswomen series into hardbacks, but very keen on collecting a bunch of vidding meta that I can make a bunch of smaller volumes on as well. I’m thinking that might be my starting project, as they’ll all be fairly compact. I attend Vidukon in person yearly when I’m able, and I think it would be really cool to be able to donate a physical library of sorts? Maybe a collection of favorite poems at some point.
Enjoy building your userpics page. It can be a lot of fun!

Date: 2022-11-29 08:23 pm (UTC)I've got recycled A4 paper that's the right grain, and honestly, it's so lovely (if expensive). I want to try binding something small with the wrong grain, sometime, just so I can compare what the effect actually is on a book, but... a million projects, and that's not taken priority!
Steerswomen looks like an interesting series! :O I also have a set of traditionally published books I want to bind myself, even though I own them in paperback. (One large and somewhat battered omnibus paperback, to be exact.) And vidding meta? :O I don't know much about vidding, but that sounds really interesting, and definitely worth making to donate to the con!
I hope you have fun making books! IMO, it's a bit of a learning curve but also not that hard to get something that looks at least roughly like a book, enough to satisfy the brain-gremlin that goes "must be instantly good at hobby". And I will have fun accumulating icons. :D

Date: 2022-12-01 02:42 pm (UTC)I know nice paper is expensive, but mmmm, the sensory experience. Since binding a book takes as much time as it does, might as well be left with something lush to hold in your hands, I say.
Steerswoman is one of my all-time faves. They're only available in paperback, so I'm thinking that'll be a conversion project - just like the one you're looking to do, I guess :)
Oh, I definitely know it won't look the best lol. But I think it will still be highly satisfying to hold the end result in my hands 🤩

Date: 2022-12-01 09:56 pm (UTC)Oh, absolutely nice paper is worth the sensory experience, plus it just looks lovelier than regular printer paper.
Very fair! Honestly, my plan was either to convert an ebook form of the Wolf House book series into something I could typeset myself, or to buy the five individual novella paperbacks and convert them. (Mostly because I don't like the cover art much on the current editions 😔.) I have no idea how you go about converting paperbacks, though. It seems like something that would either be fairly simple or incredibly complicated.
There really is something to be said for the joy of having a physical thing to hold that you've made! And I definitely didn't mean it in a bad way - my first book is all askew in so many ways but it still looks like a book and therefore I love it.
