I love some tarot decks, although I don't read them nearly as much as would justify how many I own. Do you have any particular favourites, or are you a Rider-Waite-Smith/Thoth type of traditionalist?

I've never played anything in VR, but I support your aspirations of seeing just how tall Lady Dimitrescu is close up. I watched someone play RE8 and it's such a cool game, the aesthetic of all the different characters are great. Also, new Old Guard when indeed!

Oooo, Dimension 20! I'm bad at actual plays, so it's taken me a while to get through them, but I've enjoyed what I've watched of A Starstruck Odyssey and A Court of Fey and Flowers, and I'm very excited for the upcoming new season and Emily Axford's take on spooky Red Riding Hood. I also really enjoy a lot of other Dropout content.

I haven't had a chance to start the latest season of Game Changer, but it's such a joyful show. I like some other Dropout shows too.

Agreed! I've had a lot of fun creating new ship tags in some of my old fandoms, although they've never been as large as the Harry Potter fandom. (Then again, few things are!)

I can understand why! There's a lot of time periods to explore with him, and so many different angles you can take on him as a person, especially in his earlier life. I've read a fair amount of fic with him, and it's always fun seeing the different ways he can still feel in-character. (And sometimes feel out of character, but in an also enjoyable way!)

Aw, I also like Kitty and the Captain! And Thomas. Lol, Pat and Thomas trying to do their ghost radio show. I haven't hit Thomas' backstory yet! I'm glad Isaac gets to be happier than the poor Captain. The BBC one is definitely less cuddly and a bit sadder in a lot of ways. There's a lot of horror and sadness hiding in the CBS one but it rarely ever becomes text.

He really feels like his own character in a way I struggle with for Pete and Isaac.

Oh I definitely own more than I can justify, so you're not alone there. My favorite decks all (though based in Rider Waite) deviate from the formula, except for Fountain Tarot, so my brain is being dumb there hehe. But then I always read intuitively before reading from a guidebook.

I've tried to avoid as much of the game as possible, but Lady D was unavoidable. Fandom fell hard for her, and I was awash in fanart 🥰

I do like a deck that deviates from the formula! And I don't have great intuition, but I definitely prefer giving it a go before resorting to the guidebook. I love a deck with rich art.

Lady D is great, and the rest of the game is great as well IMO. I hope you get to enjoy it!

That Old Guard link isn't working for me. :( I didn't get fully into the fandom side of it, but I'm sure there's a lot of good stuff in there! It's one of my favourite comfort movies.

Yes! I only just made the connection this morning that you invited me to the fanbinding community some time ago - I don't now remember why I didn't join then. (^_^') I haven't made many books (4, if I remember right?), I haven't had much crafting energy for most of this year. But I have a lot of books I want to make, and a fair amount typeset too.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense! The reason I haven’t finished S3 of the BBC series is very much… a certain plotline that made uncomfy. Not a bad one, just, mistaken identity kind of thing.

Isaac and Pete feel like watered-down versions of the BBC counterparts in some ways, which I know is shitty to say but something about them feels more stereotypical and less real? I still like them a lot, but it’s difficult for me to judge them on their own merit.

I can only do actual plays on video, and usually on 1.75x speed, so D20, while my gateway drug (Fantasy High S1 is on youtube), is a struggle sometimes because dropout doesn’t let me change the playback speed, haha.

Which shows do you like? I watch Um Actually kinda religiously, ngl, but Dirty Laundry didn’t quite match my expectations. Paranoia was awesome, but I’m not watching that again, lmao.

edit: also I added you! and also I am also very excited about Emily’s Red but ngl I am SUPER excited about Siobhan’s Aurora — I haven’t super loved a Siobhan character since Adaine in Fantasy High, but Adaine is my favorite DND actual play character of all time, soooo.

Oh, I relate to that. I do like how well-subtitled Dropout stuff is, it makes life so much easier for me. I think my gateway drug to Dimension 20 was Escape from the Bloodkeep, although I never got around to finishing it - I'm half-into Critical Role (ie. I want to be into it but there's just So Much), and they made the sensible SEO decision of having Matt Mercer in the thumbnail for the first episode, IIRC. But I did watch all of Misfits and Magic! That one was fun!

(I'm seeing an option to change playback speed on my Dropout, but maybe it's a browser/app-specific thing. 😔)

I haven't watched much of Um, Actually; I have a terrible tendency to only watch episodes when someone I know is in them. Dirty Laundry also didn't quite click with me, but I still had fun - I feel like "people lie about ridiculous anecdotes from their lives" is a format that's hard to go too wrong with, and I liked Grant's drinks interludes.

Paranoia isn't one I'd heard of before! It sounds fun from the description, although I think it's 50/50 on whether I'd end up with second hand embarrassment from it. I'll definitely give it a go.

I'm pretty basic, to be honest. I really enjoy Game Changer and I liked Make Some Noise too. I've also had a lot of fun with some of the episodes of Breaking News, there are some of those that get me in hysterics every time.

My excitement for Emily's Red is one part excitement for Emily and one part a life-long enjoyment of creepy takes on Red Riding Hood. Siobhan's Aurora is also very interesting to me. I also always enjoy Zac's characters, so I feel like his Puss in Boots is going to be fun. I'm curious about what the overall tone of the season is going to be - obviously they're leaning horror, but I wonder what the balance with comedy will be.
