For a feeling of community, I recommend followfriday for thematic lists of active communities on Dreamwidth. Just scroll through previous weeks looking for topics you like.

There are a few land comms surviving here! I've seen them while researching other things, but searching "land comms" only brought up one active and that wasn't one I'd seen before: hogwartsishome. So if that's what you want, you may have to be creative and persistent with searching to turn them up.

I know I've seen at least a couple of other land comms, but they don't tend to tag their Interests as such, so I couldn't find them when I looked.
