Book rec
*gasp* I know. Posting two days in a row AND reccing books? I swear it's only my name that changed, I'm still as lazy as ever xD
No, but seriously, there's a book series I absolutely NEED to recommend to everyone.
It has:
These books are absolutely incredible. If you're looking for the bog-standard mlm romo story where they get together after 20 pages and just have sex for the rest of the book, this is not that. Every relationship takes the majority of the book to properly develop and reach the point where they're close to their HEA. There's one, at most two sex scenes in any of these books, and they're not super graphic but v emotional instead.
Like I said, it has werewolves and witches, and the plot of the first book is a tiny bit like Twilight - EXCEPT SO MUCH BETTER AND ALSO GAYER. (it's v... special teenager meets family of supernatural creatures, one of them "imprints" on special teenager. It's not nearly as creepy as Twilight and ALL characters are amazing but especially the female characters are noteworthy because all of them are three-dimensional with weaknesses and strengths.
Right, I haven't said yet what these books are called or how you can read them.
I'm talking about the Green Creek series by T.J. Clune.
The first book is Wolfsong, the second one Ravensong, the third one Heartsong. The fourth one is coming out this fall (hopefully, it's been postponed at least once already, probably because of Covid) and it'll be called Brothersong.
I highly - most highly, like highestly - recommend listening to the audiobooks if you're at all able to do that. The narrator is incredible imo. You can find them on audible and on librofm, although the latter only has Ravensong and Heartsong, unfortunately.
If you'd rather read with your eyes instead of your ears, you can buy them as ebooks, either from amazon or check out the "Other Sellers" links on Klune's website if you don't want to give Bezos any more money. Unfortunately, due to some publisher drama, the books aren't available as paperbacks anymore. I believe you can maybe buy them used, but they're mainly available as ebooks now.
And once you've basked in the glory that is this series, I encourage you to check out the rest of Klune's books. He's working on a series with ace protagonists (I think there are 2 books out already), there's a book with aliens (I probably won't read it because it's got a kid in it and I'm not wild about children), and some others, I believe. Klune himself is ace and he puts at least one ace character in all of his books, fyi.
That's it, that's my book rec

It has:
- werewolves
- witches
- ace rep
- bi rep
- zero worry about anyone's sexual identity (everyone's just into whoever they're into)
- every book features a different couple but one half of the couple is always part of the same family
- angst
- the actual relationship/romo part is rarely the main focus of the book
