Twitter Exodus Friending Meme

Maybe no-one besides my handful of DW mutuals will fill this out but let's try having a friending meme like in the good old days.

Comment with this form filled out, read other people's comments, chat, and friend each other :D

Your username on DW: [personal profile] kindkit
Your username on other social media: kindkit on AO3, gavestonsfrolic on Tumblr (very seldom used in recent years) and Twitter (I'm still pretty active there, but mostly retweeting).
Pronouns: He/him
Age bracket: I'm 53
Geographical area: US Southwest
Interests: Queer and trans issues, fiction (especially sff) with queer and trans characters, old fiction with queer subtext, history, science, perfume, tea.
Fandoms: At the moment I'm all Our Flag Means Death all the time; it even has me writing fic again after a long dry spell. Before that my most recent fandoms were The Magnus Archives and Rusty Quill Gaming, and I'm tentatively intrigued by the news about The Magnus Protocols. I've been in a lot of other fandoms over the years but I tend to be serially mono-fannish: I obsess, then eventually lose interest and move on. I'm unlikely to post much (or, frankly, anything) about my old fandoms. All the fic's on AO3, though.
What type of posts can we expect in your journal? Fic links and fannish stuff, discussion of queer and trans issues, a bit of politics, some perfume reviews as I try to find the perfect scent(s) for me.
Anything else you'd like us to know? I am a trans man; if you think the existence of trans people is in any way a problem, let's not interact. Most of my posts are public; the locked ones are personal and I'll probably need to know you for a while before giving access. Feel free to subscribe without commenting here if you're more comfortable that way; I'll check out your journal regardless and will probably subscribe back if we have interests in common.

Hello! I share your interest in SFF with queer and trans characters, although I'll confess to not being especially well-read. I've been reading the Machineries of Empire series lately, which has well-delivered on that front. Do you have any particular recs?

I've also recently been in The Magnus Archives fandom, and The Magnus Protocol has also sparked my interest. I haven't gotten around to backing it (not that it needs my help, clearly!) but it looks like it's going to at least be interesting. I've enjoyed some of the work from some people they're getting in to do guest writing from the rest of the network.

I also enjoyed Our Flag Means Death, although I didn't get very fannish about it, and your fics look interesting, I'll have to give them a read!

Hi! I wish I had a recs list, but I'm always looking for recs from other people. There's a lot more queer sff than there used to be, but a lot of it is by and about queer women, and as a queer man that's not always what I'm looking for. Alas, there doesn't seem to be a parallel increase in the amount of sff by and about queer men.

Hope you enjoy the fics if you give them a read. I've written in a lot of fandoms, so there's probably something in there that might suit you!

That's fair! I've found it hard to find queer books by/about trans men - I remember asking a queer bookshop if they had any, and they didn't, at the time - so my only rec off the top of my head is the Machineries of Empire series by Yoon Ha Lee, which has a broad cast of characters, and is written by a queer trans man. But I also feel like that's a fairly well-known series by the standards of queer SFF? I have no idea.
