Twitter Exodus Friending Meme

Maybe no-one besides my handful of DW mutuals will fill this out but let's try having a friending meme like in the good old days.

Comment with this form filled out, read other people's comments, chat, and friend each other :D

Your username on DW: nerakrose
Your username on other social media: [twitter.com profile] katrinilves [tumblr.com profile] greaseonmymouth [archiveofourown.org profile] nerakrose
Pronouns: she/he/they
Age bracket: 30s
Geographical area: UK (currently)
Interests: fandom in a broad sense. bookbinding (fanbinding!) and other crafts, like knitting, drawing, painting. I read a lot and I don't write as much as I want to as I find it hard to balance all my interests with what free time I have.
Fandoms: at the moment! I'm back in the depths of Daredevil (tv series as main canon) and Leverage. Cobra Kai, BBC Shetland, Interview With the Vampire (will I reread the books? if I had time...), OFMD, idek what else. I never really leave fandoms but I don't always write for them even when I'm neck deep in them. I doubt I'll ever write for OFMD for example but I'm still unhinged about it. Same for Supernatural. I like a very wide variety of things and I zero in on the queerest of them.
What type of posts can we expect in your journal? personal posts! my few public posts are typically fandom oriented and my locked posts are all personal. I post maybe 1-2 a week about what's going on in my life. there's quite a lot of locked fandom posts as well because I sometimes put everything in one update and if there's personal stuff it goes under lock.
Anything else you'd like us to know? due to aforementioned friends lock I like mutual access & subscriptions. I'm not great at commenting on other people's entries (if I've got nothing to say I don't want to force the small talk) and I don't expect everyone (or anyone at all) to comment on mine either. I quite like DW for how it allows us to just quietly follow what's going on in each other's lives.

Interview with the Vampire, you say? 👀

indeed 👀 I have mainly been discussing it with my friends in group chats but rest assured I am Extremely Normal (which is to say: unhinged) about it. I'm considering instead of rereading from the beginning, just to pick up where I left off or maybe just read the prince lestat trilogy. I haven't read ALL the books you see...
leanwellback: lestat smirking, leaning forward and resting his chin on his arm (vc- slut behaviour)

this is the correct way to be about IwtV :D ooh yesss rereads are always fun! I really like the new trilogy. well... the second one is a TRIP but it's worth it for the third one. if you've read the first three you've read the best tbh. please don't subject yourself to blood canticle lmao.

I have! I have read up to and including the vampire Armand, after which I stopped because I hated that book so much. (I wrote a scathing review of it on goodreads and to date it is the most popular review I ever wrote? it was also hilarious to see how many more likes I suddenly got on that review after IWTV started airing...) and I also did read Pandora but that was some years before I marathoned the first 6 books, which happened one summer like 10 years ago. I have no memory of it at all, I only picked it up from the library because a) I'd read the Mayfair Witches trilogy as a teenager and recognised the author name (at that point in time I did not realise the IWTV film was both based on a book and that Annie Rice was the author) and b) it was one of few English language books in my local library at the time, which was a small library in a small town in Finland that I didn't expect to have an English language section to begin with).

anyway! I am curious about the Prince Lestat trilogy IF ONLY because it sounds just as off the wall bonkers as the entire rest of the series. I hear Louis and Lestat got married in book 2? I am here for that particular trash fire. (I'm vaguely remembering, was it in Memnoch the Devil, where Lestat was in a coma and the other vampires were like 'he's your husband, you deal with him' about it to Louis. and in Body Thief they'd had a spat and Lestat set fire to Louis' house BUT FIRST HE RESCUED ALL THE PAINTINGS and I laugh about it every time I remember it.)

I haven't done it much recently but it's so much fun :D I will be doing a new book soon though because my wife asked for one.

it is, I love how creative it is. are you doing a specific book or a notebook or something else? I've mostly done fanfics and I have about 20 fics lined up to bind in the near future... I suspect I'll never ever be 'done' binding fanfics, I'm always discovering new ones I want a copy of.

This one will be a notebook for her to write in. She wants to write in a couple renditions of Puss in Boots that we came up with for our d&d game. Most of what I've bound are notebooks or sketch books.

Wow, you've absolutely nailed the way I engage with fandoms - I love 'em and never leave 'em. Friending!

so often 'being in fandom' is defined by fandom activity - like writing fic or making fanart or whatnot, something visible. but for me often a lot of fandom activity is "just" talking about it with friends :'''D
