Twitter Exodus Friending Meme

Maybe no-one besides my handful of DW mutuals will fill this out but let's try having a friending meme like in the good old days.

Comment with this form filled out, read other people's comments, chat, and friend each other :D

Oooo, holiday event, nice! I'll keep my eyes out!

Fingers crossed your energy returns next year. I'd love to see what you get up to!

Thank you! I realised belatedly that I do have a small Tumblr tag with photos of the four books I've made so far, which maybe I should crosspost to DW at some point.

Have you bound/do you plan to bind anything in particular?

And nice, thank you for the links to icons! I will have to go through and build a hoard in my folders before deciding which get to fit in the prize 15 spots available to me. Or I could get a paid account if I get really desperate! :D

All the old scrapbooking communities seem to be dead, but there are others like [community profile] journalsandplanners and [community profile] crafty which might appeal to you.

What is diamond painting?

What sculpture media do you like?

Loving this comment! Bloodkeep was so much fun for me despite my lack of interest in LOTR, I just thought it was so much fun, and the lava mog! and Leiland and Lilith! and Efink becom— oh shit spoiler! What a fun fun ride.

M&M was cute, loved Jammer but haven’t seen the special yet. Critical Role got me via Mighty Nein on 1.75x and it took a YEAR so…

Where do you do Dropout? I’ve got it on ipad.

I like Breaking News but I like the Grant episode best, not because I like second-hand embarrassment but because he seems like he has no shame? I don’t know, I just find it really interesting, and I was hoping Dirty Laundry would be the same vibe where I’d find all the secrets interesting but unfortunately most of them are meh.

I hope Zac’s cat is also good! I love Zac, Ricky was one of my favorites in TUC, and then like, Lou’s Kingston and Amethar and Murph’s Riz and Theobald and Kugrash have also been favorite but their choices are like, okay, let’s see what happens. I’m hopeful because I was excited about Gunnie and I was not into him at all (poverty hits too close) so maybe it will be the opposite this time, lmao.

I've had a lot of fun with Sculpey, though it's not currently active. I've done paper mache and air-dry things on occasion. Ceramics when I was much younger. Bodycasting with plaster several times. If you're into paper mache, you'd probably love the plaster strips because they work very similarly. Just the plaster is a right pain to get off later. The cast pops off on its own, but any drips will weld themselves to skin and hair. :/

Oh, and food. I can do things like braid bread or shape cookies. I made sheep cookies for a holiday exchange once, by sticking little balls of dough together. So cute. If you haven't tried sculpting food yet, I highly recommend it. Fun, and you get treats!

i just joined [community profile] journalsandplanners , thank you for the suggestion!

diamond painting is sort of like paint by number in the sense that you have a bunch of different colours that you place on top of symbols on a paper to make a picture. instead of paint, you have little plastic "diamonds," and instead of a paintbrush it's a pen-like tool with a little bit of wax on the end to make the diamonds stick to it. you pick up diamonds with the tool and then press them onto the adhesive paper. it looks like this!

i like diamond painting because it's something you can do with your hands while on the phone. i tend to do it during really dull zoom meetings if i can keep my camera off.. since meetings have been mostly in-person lately i've been diamond painting a lot less but i'm still slowly making my way through my current project for the sake of finishing it. i like to put them up on my walls when i'm done to show them off! they sparkle very beautifully under my led lights.

I'm happy I could turn you on to something new.

>> i like to put them up on my walls when i'm done to show them off! they sparkle very beautifully under my led lights.<<

Thank you for sharing. They're very pretty. I hadn't seen this before, although I have seen many other grid-based crafts. (You could probably use any color-coded grid, as for beadwork or cross-stitch.) The closest I've seen is the rhinestones either ironed on or punch-fastened to fabric for making pictures.

I'll have to watch for this on your blog.

Same re: lack of interest in LOTR! But the good thing about LOTR is that it's been riffed on so much that, even if Bloodkeep was specifically parodying it, it wasn't hard to pick up on the specific bits of parody.

Also haven't seen the M&M special, so you're in good company there. And you've still watched more Critical Role than me! I've watched some of all three seasons, but it's mostly an osmosis fandom for me. I did watch all of Exandria Unlimited: Calamity, though, because it was exactly tailored to my interests.

Ah, I do Dropout on my laptop browser (Firefox, if that makes a difference). I wonder if it would work using a browser on the iPad or not.

Grant episodes of Breaking News are top-tier. He's one of my favourite people in the Dropout circle of people. Dirty Laundry is definitely much lower-key on the stakes of the secrets, and I think it loses a little bit because they clearly have a timescale to keep to, so Lily is often cutting off conversations.

Oh yeah, the poverty stuff in what I saw of A Starstruck Odyssey was rough, although it gained a dark comedy when juxtaposed with the amount of money Margaret was willing to throw around in those episodes. I was enjoying both iterations of Skip, but I think that might have been down to Zac's expressions and word economy.

Oh nice! Connection too slow for tumblr at work, but I’ll try to remember to check it out.

Haven’t bound anything yet. More in the process of gathering information and tutorials, plus I have some old book cloth/end papers my mom got me at the museum archive (they had a lot of duplicates, and it was her job to tidy; I ain’t stealing from a museum 😅) Think all I’m missing is a bone folder and a suitable needle, though may spring for bigger paper to divide so I can fold with the grain. (Partially started [community profile] fanbinding so I can store resource links there as I go)

As for things I’d like to bind, probably some fanfiction, and making the Steerswomen series into hardbacks, but very keen on collecting a bunch of vidding meta that I can make a bunch of smaller volumes on as well. I’m thinking that might be my starting project, as they’ll all be fairly compact. I attend Vidukon in person yearly when I’m able, and I think it would be really cool to be able to donate a physical library of sorts? Maybe a collection of favorite poems at some point.

Enjoy building your userpics page. It can be a lot of fun!

Oooo, nice! I've got a fair number of bookbinding resources I've got bookmarked, if you want me to take a look through them for anything that might be useful to you? Or I could try and put together a post for [community profile] fanbinding myself, thinking about it!

I've got recycled A4 paper that's the right grain, and honestly, it's so lovely (if expensive). I want to try binding something small with the wrong grain, sometime, just so I can compare what the effect actually is on a book, but... a million projects, and that's not taken priority!

Steerswomen looks like an interesting series! :O I also have a set of traditionally published books I want to bind myself, even though I own them in paperback. (One large and somewhat battered omnibus paperback, to be exact.) And vidding meta? :O I don't know much about vidding, but that sounds really interesting, and definitely worth making to donate to the con!

I hope you have fun making books! IMO, it's a bit of a learning curve but also not that hard to get something that looks at least roughly like a book, enough to satisfy the brain-gremlin that goes "must be instantly good at hobby". And I will have fun accumulating icons. :D

<3333

So, I used to have A Lot of decks but over the years I've been downsizing a lot due to moving around a bit and not all of them actually being mine as much as ones I had access to.

However, I have a copy of the marigold Tarot that I absolutely adore. My other favoirte/default deck is the Dark Wood tarot. As for oracle, right now I'm really gravitating towards the Embroidered Graveyard deck as well as the Woodland Wardens.

I only play PC games and I gravitate towards more spooky/horror stuff but I also want to extend past that at some point.

What about you?

Oh, hello! I am a tarot/oracle person as well and also do the original fiction thing. Fairytales and myths are always tasty too.

I am so very down with some of your interests! LGBTQ+ and kink related things are always of interest as well as horror things and writing. I also definitely found the X-Files to be part of the things I consumed a lot at certain points of my life and have been meaning to do a highlights re-watch.
