I'm just checking in to say hi

The pandemic is what it is.

I've been working from home since mid-March. I've been going to the library every once in a while to accommodate the people who still want to borrow or return books - especially students writing their thesis. I'm still keeping the library closed to the public, but I have to share the space with an office worker, as well as a retired lady who runs the community library on Thursday afternoons.

So, it's not ideal but it's much better than it could be. I'm lucky that my bosses understand and share my concerns.

I've finished a massive fic project. I've been working on it since October last year, and finished in late April this year. It's 52k of omegaverse poly triad hockey RPF with a trans character.

My next project is a name-on-wrist soulmate AU with actual witches, and - you guessed it - a trans character.

It's almost like I've suddenly developed an interest in writing about characters like that XD

To be fair, both stories hinge on the character being trans and I probably would've had the ideas without being a trans guy myself - I just might not have felt confident enough to write them?

So, in between NOT thinking about the pandemic, working from home, and writing fic, I've also been binging TV shows (Schitt's Creek, The Good Place, She-Ra season 5 .........), and playing video games (Anno 1800, Assassin's Creed 2, Child of Light).

I've sewn about 20 masks, half of which went to my parents. I bought a new desk (adjustable height!), I got re-approved for therapy, and my gynaecologist prescribed me an estrogen-free pill to rid me of my period.

Honestly, apart from the soul-crushing and fear-inducing pandemic situation, my life's been okay?

I'm terribly touch-starved, even more than usual, unsurprisingly. Apart from that though, I'm okay for socialising, I think. Most of my friends are online friends anyway, which means that the way in which I talk to them hasn't changed.

Oh, I also took up playing my accordion again. I used to play as a kid/teen, and haven't really done much with it since I stopped 15 years ago. I kept my instrument and my sheet music though. I've been picking it up again lately. Still needs more practice, especially since I had to change what I play based on the fact that I no longer play in an orchestra. Once the pandemic is over, I might look into finding a music school that has accordion lessons or a group that plays together. I miss making music with other people.
